So what if we get drenched occationally by a surprise April shower? Spring is worth it.
Here at Trestle on Tenth , we've devised some welcome-to-spring events to entice you, our faithful customers, to join us.
In a nod to the state of economy, but with optimism undiminished, we are featuring for the whole month of April the DOW Dog. The DOW dog consists of a house-made bratwurst on a house-made baguette, garnished with our special mustard and kraut, and served with a pint of Reissdorf draft. In the spirit of free market, the price is determend on a daily basis by the level of the Dow Jones Industrial Average at the closing bell. So if the DOW closes at 7776, the DOW Dog with a beer will cost $7.77 for the next 24 hours. If there is such a thing as a no-risk deal, this is it.
Easter is just a few days away and we still have some seats open for that weekend's Saturday/Sunday brunches. We will incorporate thosse delicious heralds of spring--ramps and morels--in a selection of special dishes and will feature a traditional Swiss Easter rice cake for dessert. With a littel bit of luck the weather will be sunny and warm so we can open the garden in the back.
On April 21 Clemens Busch from the Mosel Valley in Germany will be our visiting Winemaker of the Month. Clemens is one of the pioneers in the development of organic viticulture on teh Mosel and has also worked biodynamically for several years. Clemens dares to harvest his grapes extremely late--a demanding strategy in any region, all the more so along the fickle Mosel--and as a result his wines attain tremendous levels of concentration, ripeness, and complexity. He produces mouthwatering dry and off-dry wines as well as nobly sweet wines that are among the finest white wines in Germany or anywhere else. This very special 4-course dinner with wine pairings will begin at 7:45 and cost $80 per person, including tax and gratuity.
And of course we are impatiently awaiting the blooming of our cherry tree in the garden. Just think of sitting under the tree, being gently sprinkled by pink cherry petals, while sipping from a glistening glass of Riesling and snacking on well-ripenend cheeses and house-made charcuterie.
In these times we need to take every opportunity to celebrate the good things of life.
Come welcome spring with us.
Ralf and the team at Trestle on Tenth
